Jack Kripowicz, a beloved social studies teacher and tireless public servant, passed away peacefully at the age of 91 years old.
Jack was married for 69 wonderful years to his high school sweetheart, Rose, with whom he built a life grounded in love, learning, and service.
A dedicated educator, Jack was known throughout the Trenton community as a beloved social studies teacher, public servant, and someone who always worked toward the betterment of his community. His true passion was education—helping shape young minds and leaving a lasting impact on generations of students. He was voted Most Influential Teacher by multiple graduating classes and was honored through his induction into the Trenton Education Foundation’s Wall of Fame.
Jack’s commitment to public service extended far beyond the school walls. He served the City of Trenton with distinction, including as a member of the Trenton City Council and as Mayor Pro Tem from 1981 to 1989. His leadership, integrity, and devotion to civic responsibility left a lasting imprint on Trenton and communities throughout Downriver.
Jack devoted himself to the betterment of his community in countless ways—serving in leadership roles within local and district Democratic clubs, contributing his expertise on the boards of regional and local hospitals, supporting his parish at St. Timothy’s, and by mentoring and campaigning for several first-time candidates for public office who have gone on to significant leadership roles in the State of Michigan.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Rose; their children Jack (Linda) Christopher, Mary Jo Kripowicz, and Kelly Walters; and his cherished grandchildren Jake, Veronica, Stephen, and Claire. His legacy of kindness, civic engagement, and dedication to lifelong learning will live on through his family, former students, and the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
