Jack Lee Maynard

Jack Maynard, a Paratrooper, Teacher, Father and Fun Seeker, passed away on Sunday August 13th after a long bout with dementia. Born October 18, 1933 in Petoskey, Michigan, Jack was the son of Eldon and Julia (Booth) Maynard. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army with the 82nd Airborne Division. After his time in the Military, Jack then completed his Masters Degree in Education and went on to teach for Taylor public Schools at the Junior High and then at Taylor Center High School, from where he retired. He was a faithful member of the 82nd Airborne Division Association. This outstanding individual will live on in the hearts and minds of all who knew him. Jack is survived by his 3 children: Kristen Maynard of Hickory, North Carolina, Justin (Stacy) Maynard of Sylvania, Ohio and Carson Maynard of Bailey, Colorado; 5 grandchildren: Devin Maynard, Arwen Mamer, Aylen Mamer, Sonya Maynard and Civil Maynard; as well as his loving girlfriend Brandy Pilla. Visitation and stories both tall and short will be shared Thursday August 17th at Allore Chapel-Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 203 E. Elm Ave. from 1pm until 6:30pm. Military Honors will be at 6:30 by the VFW Post 1138, Monroe. In lieu of flowers please make donations in honor of Jack to the Alzheimer's Foundation Greater Michigan Chapter or the 82nd Airborne Division Association.
