James Edward Bost

James Edward Bost, born on February 22, 1940, departed this world on August 14, 2026, in Trenton, Michigan. Those who had the privilege of knowing Jim would agree that his presence was a cherished gift, woven deeply into the fabric of his beloved family and community.

A native son, Jim began his path in life at St. Patrick's Catholic School, where he first developed the character and values that carried him through the years. His studies continued at St. Mary Catholic Central during middle school, and he completed his education at Airport High School, forming friendships and setting foundations that would last a lifetime.

Jim dedicated much of his professional life to General Motors as an assembler—a role he fulfilled with unwavering dedication and skill. His strong work ethic and quiet pride marked his years there, until his well-earned retirement. Yet, even in retirement, his desire to serve and be part of his community never waned. He found purpose and connection in his work as a janitor for Trenton Public Schools, where he was known for his reliability, friendly demeanor, and ever-ready smile.

Amidst all his accomplishments, Jim's greatest pride and deepest joy was his family. Together with his wife, Jackie, Jim built a life anchored in love and resilience. The couple's compassion and steadfast support have been the cornerstone for their children Rhonda (Tracey) Schaarschmidt, Natalie (Scott) Knaggs, Matthew (Sonia) Otter, and Nichole (Essen) Davis. James's children were a source of immense happiness for him, and he celebrated each of their milestones and triumphs as if they were his own.

As a brother, Jim shared unbreakable bonds, holding close his surviving siblings: Barb Doster, Kathy Burnett, Loretta Burnette, Dorothy Costello, Edith Frank, Sharon Amato, Rick Bost, and (Late) Margaret Waltbilling. Their memories together formed a tapestry of laughter, memories, and enduring support. Jim leaves behind a legacy of familial devotion that will guide them always.

The next generation—his grandchildren—adored their papa who remained a rock of kindness and calm throughout their lives. Rochelle Jackson, Hillery Chambers, Tim (Amber) Jackson, Stephen (Alicia) Chambers, Morgan Fater, Jacob (Janelle) Knaggs, Madielyn Knaggs, Hayden Davis, Lauryn Knaggs, Kaeli Davis, and Adalyn McDannel. He was also well loved by many of his great-grandchildren, his great-great-grandchildren, other family members, and friends.

James's journey was also marked by the sorrowful loss of his daughter Jamie Lynn Fater and his son Jimbo Bost. Their memory stayed close to his heart, and the love they shared will never leave those who remain.

To those mourning his loss, his memory will forever be a touchstone. Jim taught by example—through tireless effort, simple joys, enduring love, and the subtle grace that comes from a life lived honestly and well. His legacy is not measured in accolades or outward display but shines brightly in the laughter of his grandchildren, the unity of his family, and in the way those who loved him strive each day to reflect the very best of his example.
