James Ray Curtis

Born in Detroit, Ray was the son of James and Pearl (Whiteaker) Curtis. He faithfully served our country with the United States Marine Corps from February 5, 1952 until February 4, 1954. He was married to Janet McKee in 1953. Sadly she preceded him in death in 1994. He then married Sarah Eleanor Butts in 1999. She preceded him in death in August of this year. Ray worked as a Nuclear Coating Specialist for Detroit Edison's Fermi II Nuclear Power Plant, retiring in 1990. Ray enjoyed woodworking, fishing and playing cards, especially Pinochle, but his most cherished times were those spent with family. Beloved father of Lori (David) Freckelton and Julie (Frederick) Carter. Proud Papa to: Angela Carter, Leslie (Santo) Sclafani and Stacy (Nathan) French; great grandfather of Victoria Freckelton. Also survived by step-children: Russell (Char) Butts and Judy (Jim) McCall as well as their respective families. Also preceded in death by his brother, Gerald E. Curtis. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial contribution in honor of Ray are asked to consider the American Heart Association.
