Jane “Jean” Paton Pyper Walach

Walach, Jane “Jean” P., age 94, of Grosse Ile, Michigan passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025 at Riverview, Michigan. She was born on June 7, 1931 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada and was a devoted and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.

Jean was preceded in death in 2019 by her beloved husband of 67 years, Edwin John Walach.

Jean was a Loving mother of:

Michael (Bonnie) Walach, daughter in-law Lori Ann Walach,

the late Edwin John Walach, Jr. and the late Theodore Allen Walach.

Loving grandmother of: Amanda (Dave) McShane, Nathan Walach and Marissa (Nick) Middleton. Loving Great grandmother to: Liam McShane.

Jean is also survived by a multitude of Friends, Nieces and Nephews, their children, extended families, and step grandchildren and step great grandchildren whom she loved very dearly and who all were a blessing of joy to her during her life.

Jean was the youngest child, and only daughter, of her parents, Samuel and Elizabeth Pyper, who had immigrated to Windsor, Ontario, Canada from Ayrshire, Scotland and the only child born in Canada. Enjoying a happy childhood in Windsor with her parents and three brothers (William, Jack and Samuel Pyper) she met and married Edwin in 1952. The couple lived in Detroit and Windsor before bringing their three sons, to Grosse Ile, Michigan and establishing a home for their family there. She loved her summers with her sons at their cottage in Wheatley, Ontario, Canada and later, in retirement, she and Edwin wintered in Naples, Florida enjoying their home there. Each home, created some of Jean’s happiest memories with family and friends.

Jean loved her family, extended family and a multitude of friends during her life. Her kindness and compassion touched the lives of so many of us and she will be deeply missed. She loved so many with her kind and loving heart!

Jean will have a private funeral with immediate family and will be interred in Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Brownstown, Michigan

In lieu of flowers, Contributions in memory of Jean’s life may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of your choice.
