Jane Elaine (Romanski) Lehman, age 80, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2026. She was born on June 28, 1946, and spent her youth and young adulthood in Detroit, Michigan. Jane graduated with the Class of 1964 from Holy Redeemer High School in Detroit. After graduation, Jane worked as a switchboard operator and assistant for a law firm in Detroit. She enjoyed taking day trips to the SEC in Washington, D.C. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Lou.Jane was a devoted and loving wife to her husband, Lou, with whom she shared nearly 49 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life centered on family, love, and helping those around them. After marrying Lou, Jane fulfilled her dream of becoming a stay-at-home mother when their children, Linda and Mike, were born. The family soon moved to Huron Township, where Jane and Lou made their home for the remainder of their lives. Jane remained home with her children until their teenage years before returning to work as an insurance verifier.Family was at the heart of Jane's life. She was deeply dedicated and loyal to her family and friends and spent much of her life caring for and advocating for her brother with special needs.Jane had a special love for butterflies, hummingbirds, and dogs—especially golden retrievers. She and Lou fostered many golden retrievers in need of a home while they waited to be adopted. Each dog was treated like royalty and loved as part of the family during their time in Jane and Lou's care.Jane also enjoyed cardio drumming and attending craft shows with her dear friend. She treasured traveling with her children and grandchildren, making memories in places including Honduras, Jamaica, Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Dauphin Island, Mackinac Island, and Mexico. Jane and Lou especially loved Alaska and traveled there several times. One of Jane's highlights each time was seeing the Alaskan sled dogs.Above all, Jane adored her grandchildren, Logan and Elana. She was a constant and enthusiastic presence in their lives, attending countless dance recitals, soccer games, tennis matches, orchestra concerts, church plays, choir concerts, and many other special events. Whenever Grandma came over, the kids would quickly claim her for themselves, taking her off to laugh, play, and make memories together. They always had a wonderful time when Grandma was around!Jane's contagious smile, generous heart, unwavering devotion to her family, and love for others left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Her memory will live on through the countless lives she touched and the many beautiful memories she created with her family and friends.Jane was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Louis Lehman; her parents, Joseph and Stella Romanski; and her brothers, Vince and Joseph Romanski. She is survived by her two children, Linda (Jeff) Schrieber and Mike (Diana) Lehman; and her two beloved grandchildren, Logan Schrieber and Elana Schrieber. Jane will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She will be especially cherished in the hearts of her children, grandchildren and those who lovingly called her “Cioci.”
