JD Flynn, a man whose life was marked by dedication, love, and integrity went home to be with the Lord on April 7, 2026 at his home in Huron Twp; he was surrounded by his family. JD was born on May 21, 1937, in Stearns, Kentucky.
JD’s professional life was principally shaped by his valuable contributions to the General Motors Poletown Plant, from which he retired with honor and pride. Yet, beyond the walls of industry and labor, it was within the sanctity of his family that JD found his greatest fulfillment. His family was, without contest, the brightest jewel in his life’s crown, especially the companionship and steadfast support of his devoted wife of 38 years, Robin, whom he married on October 2, 1987.
His legacy is lovingly carried forward by his two sons, Kevin (April) and Raymond, alongside his grandchildren—Matt, Antaysha, Pyris, Nichole, Raymond, Kelsey, Kevin, Kaleigh, Tyler, Nathan, Andrew, Raymond III, Brooke, Allison and Alissa—who were the light of his later years. The family’s tapestry is beautifully interwoven with the memories of his grandchildren Mark and Miranda, who have gone before him. JD also leaves behind a wide circle of nieces, nephews, and other cherished family and friends. JD’s love and compassion extended to his loyal dog, Pumpkin, who will keenly feel the absence of his faithful companion.
In addition to his two grandchildren he was preceded in death by his beloved parents, John and Mollie (Tucker) Flynn, whose foundations surely helped to shape the man he became. He is also preceded in death by his siblings, Lona, Fannie, Russell, Willie, Fred, and Jimmie.
A visitation to honor JD’s memory will take place at The Allen Park Chapel - Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, located at 10915 Allen Rd, Allen Park, Michigan 48101, on Sunday, April 12, 2026, from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, April 12 at 4:00 PM, offering all who knew him an opportunity to gather, reflect, and celebrate a life well lived.
JD’s legacy is one of heartfelt devotion—to his family, his work, and the countless connections he nurtured throughout his remarkable journey. He will be remembered not only for his steadfast character but for his warmth and love. As we bid farewell, we hold fast to the solace that the love he so generously gave remains eternal.
Memorial contributions to honor his life may be made as the donor chooses.
