Jeffrey C. “Jethro” Gaynier of Trenton, Michigan passed away in his home unexpectedly at the age of 53. Beloved husband of 26 years to Kathleen Gaynier (Bazner). Loving father of Brooke, Jack, and Karly. Cherished son of Daniel and Suzanne Gaynier. Son-in-law of Kenneth and Sheila (deceased) Bazner. Dear brother of Lisa Nemitz (Gaynier) and brother-in-laws Kenny Joe Bazner, Kevin (Tammy) Bazner, Joe “Leo” Bazner, and Jim (Julie) Bazner. Uncle to Ella, Lydia, Jessica, Julia, Patrick, Liam, Braden, and Ryker. Dog-dad to J.J., Rory, and Zeus. Jeff also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was happiest spending time with his family and his dogs, all of whom miss him terribly.
Jeff was born December 6, 1968. He attended St. Mary’s Rockwood elementary school and graduated from Monroe Catholic Central in 1987. He had a successful career as a crane operator for local 324 Operating Engineers for the past 29 years. He was proud of his work and sincerely appreciated his community of co-workers and friends.
Best known for his bear hugs, bad jokes, and butt crack, Jeff was a friend to all. His easy laugh, open spirit, and soft heart defined his approach to life.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Trenton Chapel of The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes located at 3200 West Road, Trenton, MI 48183. A Memorial Mass is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at St. Charles Catholic Church located at 8125 Swan Creek Rd, Newport, MI 48166. The gathering will begin at 10:00 a.m. that day and the Memorial Mass will start at 11:00 a.m. with lunch to follow in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Jeff’s family c/o Kathleen Gaynier, 1910 Church Place, Trenton, MI 48183.
