Listen to Obituary

Jeffrey L. Ratliff, a cherished father, son, brother, and friend, was born on March 7, 1961, in Nashville, Tennessee. He departed this world unexpectedly on February 24, 2026, in Monroe, Michigan. Jeffrey’s life was a testament to resilience and a love for the simple joys that nature brings. Jeffrey grew up in Gibraltar, playing little league and fishing in Lake Erie.

As a roofer, Jeffrey spent countless hours ensuring that homes were kept safe and sound under sturdy roofs. He took immense pride in his work. Beyond construction, Jeffrey's heart was deeply connected to the great outdoors. He found peace and joy in nature, often escaping to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to immerse himself in its beauty. Whether it was hiking through lush trails or simply sitting quietly by a lake, Jeffrey cherished every moment spent in the embrace of the natural world.

He is survived by his beloved mother, Linda J. Ratliff Cantley (Edwin), and his daughter, Brittany Halstead, who were both sources of immeasurable pride and joy in his life. Jeffrey's legacy continues through his grandchildren, Rylan and Jaxton, who will forever carry his spirit in their hearts. He was also a loving brother to Duane (Suzie) Ratliff, Brian (Tamara) Ratliff, and Jamie (Holly) Ratliff, forging bonds that would serve as a foundation of support and laughter throughout their lives. The Ratliff family tree thrives with the love he shared, from nieces and nephews like Jennifer Ratliff, Jake (Sarah) Ratliff, Jordan (Spencer Kennedy) Ratliff, Maddison (Brent Spiteri) Ratliff, Daniel Ratliff, Delaney (Caleb Lauber) Ratliff, and Cooper (Cassidy) Ratliff, to great-nieces Madelyn, Josie, and Evelyn.

Jeffrey was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Ratliff, and his brother, Michael Ratliff, both of whom he missed dearly. Their memories remain intertwined in his story, leaving an undeniable mark on his journey.

Though Jeffrey's passing was sudden, his memory will resonate through the lives he touched. He embodied the warmth of laughter, the wisdom of a caring listener, and the strength of a loving father. As we remember him, we celebrate a life that taught us to embrace the beauty around us, and to cherish family above all else. Jeffrey will be profoundly missed but never forgotten, as his spirit continues to inspire those who knew and loved him.
