It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Jennifer Mary Copes who was born on November 2, 1946. She was affectionately known as “Jenny”. She was full of love and kindness. She passed on July 2, 2026, at 79 years old. She lived in Riverview, Michigan. She is preceded in rest by her husband, Robert Copes, her parents John (Anita) and Gladys Carlisle, her brother John, brother Bill (Carol), and sister Susan Rydell (David). She also leaves behind her children, Catherine Clements and Robert Copes; her grandchildren, Jenna and Colin Smith; and her partner, Ray DeFrancesco.
In her youth, she showed a passion for animals. She showed dogs and excelled at the opportunity.
Born and raised in Highland Park, she met her husband there. They had both found the love of their lives.
Jennifer married Robert Copes, and together they built a beautiful family. Jennifer took pride in
being a mother, and her love only deepened as she became a grandmother to Jenna and Colin. Her grandchildren were a source of joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them filling their lives with laughter and love.
She pursued her education at the University of Detroit where she majored in English, which is a testament of her lifelong passion for literature.
Jennifer’s career was as adverse as her talents. She worked as an administrative coordinator and a business school teacher, and a journalist, showcasing her vitality and dedication.
A deep love of dancing, finding joy on the dance floor with her partner, Ray, brought happiness not only to themselves but also to everyone who had the pleasure of watching them dance.
Jennifer always made time for others. She volunteered at local nursing homes, offering her support and companionship to help those in need. Her willingness to help anyone who crossed her path was a testament to her selflessness.
Jennifer touched the lives of many. Leaving behind a legacy of friendship, love and kindness. She was not only a wonderful mother and grandmother but also a cherished friend. Her memory will live in our hearts forever.
