Jim Urbanski

James "Jim" Urbanski, age 83, passed away peacefully on June 16th, in Riverview, Michigan. Born in Toledo, Ohio, and later making Trenton his family’s home, Jim lived a life marked by dedication to education, family, and community.

A lifelong educator, Jim devoted the majority of his career to Wyandotte’s Roosevelt High School, where he left a lasting impact on generations of students and colleagues. His passion for teaching extended beyond the classroom—he was a steadfast advocate for educators and worked tirelessly through the teachers union to support and uplift his peers. His commitment to public education reflected his deep belief in its power to shape lives and communities. Outside of his professional life, Jim embraced a variety of interests that brought him happiness and fulfillment. He enjoyed reading widely, tending to his garden with care, capturing memories through photography, and spending time on the golf course. Jim also gave generously to many worthy causes and was an active community volunteer throughout his life, reflecting a spirit of compassion and civic responsibility.

He was preceded in death by his dearly beloved wife of 55 years, Judy. Together they built a loving home filled with warmth and laughter. He is survived by his son Todd (Tracy), daughter Melissa (Rob) and her sons, Easton and Beckett, sister Barbara, and brother Phil. Jim cherished time spent with his family and took particular joy in watching his grandsons grow.

Although he will be deeply missed, may Jim’s memory bring comfort to those who knew him and inspiration to those who carry forward his values of empathy and kindness.
