Jimmy D. Flanary, born on November 22, 1940, in Appalachian, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on April 16, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and kindness. A dedicated member of the Heritage Park Church of God, Jimmy was known for his unwavering belief in God and his commitment to serving the Church in any capacity he could. His faith was an integral part of his life, guiding him through both the joys and challenges he faced.

Retiring from McLouth Steel, where he excelled as a Brick Layer, Jimmy lived a vibrant and fulfilling life. His work ethic was commendable; he approached every task with diligence and integrity, qualities that endeared him to many. He was a gentle and kind man, whose warmth and compassion were felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Jimmy had a special way of showing love to his family, often referring to his wife, daughter, and granddaughter as "His Girls." His affection for them was boundless, and he cherished each moment spent with them. In recent years, as his health declined, he spoke with great hope and peace about reuniting with his girls in Heaven, reflecting his deep faith and the strength he drew from it.

In addition to his family, Jimmy was known for his love of sports, particularly the Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Lions. He also enjoyed watching birds and squirrels as a pass time in his later years. These interests added joy and excitement to his life, providing him with moments of happiness and community.

Jimmy is survived by his sister, Jean (Bill) Schubert as well as many loving family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Millie, cherished daughter, Shawna M. Rhodes, granddaughter, Ashlynn Noel Rhodes, two sisters, Wilma and Libby and two brothers, Harold and Donnie as well as his parents, Alan and Mable Flanary

As we remember Jimmy, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, service, and an unwavering spirit. His legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him, and his memory will forever be cherished.
