Born in Detroit, Joan was the daughter of Darley and Isabell (Webster) Davis. She married the love of her life, John E. Croy, on September 9, 1950 at the First Presbyterian Church in Howell. Sadly he preceded her in death October 26, 2014. Joan worked as a Realtor/Broker for many years. Joan had a strong interest in history and was very active with many historical organizations: Little Bighorn Associates, Custer Battlefield Historical & Museum Associates, Custer Association of Great Britain, Friends of Custer Battlefield, Sawyer Homestead, Friends of Potter Cemetery, Legacy 200 Project, Civil War Associates, Civil War Roundtable-MCLS Library and Reference Center, Monroe County Historical Society and Gift Shop Manager for over 30 years and several sewing projects for 1812 and Civil War re-enactments making dresses, bonnets and shirts for many people. Joan leaves to cherish her memory her son John (Helen) Croy of Portland, Oregon; three grandchildren: Tricia Croy, Kimberly (Charlie) Thompson and Ian Croy; as well as two great grandchildren: Gabriel Thompson and Lucy Thompson. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson Justin Dodson. In accordance with Joan's wishes, cremation arrangements have taken place.
