Devoted husband, father, and grandfather, John Ament, age 73, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on July 30, 2025, in Trenton, Michigan, after a courageous 14-year battle with Parkinson's Disease. Born on September 17, 1951, in Handenberg, Austria, John lived a life marked by dedication to his family and passion for his work and interests.
John’s professional career spanned several decades in the sales industry. He served as a Regional Sales Manager for Honeywell and later as the National Sales Manager for BASO Gas Products. His colleagues remember him as a hardworking professional who approached his work with integrity and enthusiasm.
Beyond his work, John had a passion for tennis, golf, and playing cards, often filling his leisure time with these pursuits. John's heart belonged to the shores of Kiawah Island, where he would spend countless hours, each summer walking the dogs the beach and playing horseshoes with his beloved wife, Sandra. Some of his daughter’s fondest memories are of their dad taking them out beyond the breakers so they could float on the ocean and helping them catch the perfect wave to ride to shore.
John was preceded in death by his loving parents, Martin and Karolina Ament. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sandra Ament; his cherished daughters, Mary Ament and Lina (Robbie) Black, and his adored grandchildren, Isla and Bennett Black. He also leaves behind his dear sisters, Karol Mckinzie, Marty (Joe) Arvay, and Rosanne (Robert) Bruner. His love and kindness will be remembered by anyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the visitation on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM at The Trenton Chapel of The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes. Service will follow at 2:30 PM at the same location. The procession will then move to Michigan Memorial Park for burial, followed by a dinner at Faith United Methodist Church in Trenton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith United Methodist Church or Suntree-Viera Pet Rescue. John's family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the love and support they have received during this difficult time.
John's legacy will live on through the love and memories shared by his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
