John Luis Carmona

John Luis Carmona, 69, of Lincoln Park, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on July 25, 2026. John was born on August 18, 1956, and devoted his life to the people he loved most. He was a devoted husband, proud father, loving grandfather, caring brother, loyal friend, and the kind of man who always put those he cared for first.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Susan; his children, RaeShel (James), Brandon, John (Britney), Nicole (James); his cherished grandchildren, Desirae (Deonte), Angel, Jackson, Addison, Madelyn, Jaydon, Ashton, Hunter, Aislyn, Aspen, and Laine; and his great-grandchildren, Aliyana and Joliana. He is also survived by his siblings, Adriana (Robert) Leonard, Alfred (Velda), Carmen (Ricardo), Arturo (Patricia), Joseph (Evelyn), Silvia (Khader), and Vincent (Traci); his faithful companion and best buddy, Mason; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Adolfo Carmona and Carmen Bedolla, and his brother, Ernesto.

Anyone who knew John knew the kind of man he was. He had a way of making people feel welcome, making them laugh, and leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. His kindness was genuine, his heart was generous, and his love for his family knew no bounds. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with them, cheering them on, and watching them grow. He was deeply loved by so many people, and the overwhelming outpouring of love and support since his passing is a true reflection of the countless lives he touched. His strength, wisdom, sense of humor, and unconditional love will forever be carried in the hearts of those who knew him.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, at the Martenson Funeral Home, 10915 Allen Road, Allen Park, MI 48101. Family visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m., with public visitation from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

A Rosary service will be held on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 19624 Wood St, Melvindale, MI 48122. He will lie in state at 9:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), two charities that reflect John's compassion for both children and animals.

John's legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched, the family he loved beyond measure, and the memories he leaves behind that remind us the greatest gift we can give one another is simply being there for one another.
