John Francis Gross

Born in Monroe, John was the son of William and Catherine (Corcoran) Gross. A graduate of Monroe High School, he married the love of his life, Deborah Lindsay, in 2001. Their years together would bring many journeys with family, business, and travel. Sadly she preceded him in death May of 2026.John proudly served our country in the United States Army as a Paratrooper. He then worked production in the automotive industry. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union and the Carpenters Union. John enjoyed golfing, reading and playing sudoku puzzles, but his most treasured times were those spent with his family. You could often find him on the phone calling one of his loved ones, or making a silly joke just to see those around him smile. John was a kind and generous man. He constantly thought of others, provided paternal guidance, and noticed even the smallest details in someone. He knew when to speak and when to listen, and he was always there to help anyone who would take it. John leaves to cherish his memory his children: Kevin (Jennifer) Gross, Gerald Cuykendall II, Tara (Justin) Mann, Christina (Gerald) Steinberg, Cherette Cuykendall and Bethoney DeSilvis, as well as 9 grandchildren, with special mention of Gerald Cuykendall III and 4 siblings: Rosemary Gross, Bill (Sharry) Gross, Jim (Opal) Gross and Thomas (Bonnie) Gross. In addition to his parents and spouse, he was preceded in death by 2 siblings: Robert Gross and Rita Gross.
