John Kenneth Hackett, Jr.

John Kenneth Hackett, Jr., passed away peacefully on July 26, 2026, at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital. Born on September 3, 1950, in Dearborn, Michigan, John lived a life defined by devotion to family, quiet pursuits, and a lasting love of music.

Throughout his 75 years, John’s greatest treasure was always his family. His deep affection was evident to all who knew him, shaping his life and legacy. He is survived by his son, John Thomas “J.T.” Hackett (Erin LaPalm), whose lives he touched profoundly. His sister, Peggy (the late Jim) Flachsman, also survives him along with other loving family and friends, cherishing many fond memories shared over the years. John was predeceased by his father, John Kenneth Hackett; his mother, Mary J. (Gallant) Hackett; his sister, Carolyn Ruttman; and his brother, Paul Hackett (the late Mary), all of whom held special places in his heart and whose memories he honored throughout his life.

He graduated in 1969 from Grosse Ile High School and spent his career as a Technician for a Medical Equipment Company. John found his greatest joys in simple and soulful pursuits. He was an avid fisherman who loved to go fishing with his brother Paul, his nephew Jimmy and all family and friends who wanted to join him in seeking solace and reflection by the water. Music was another lifelong companion, and he was especially known for his skill with the guitar and his love of song writing. John also enjoyed sports and followed all of the Detroit teams. These hobbies were not merely pastimes but extensions of John’s thoughtful nature and his desire to connect with both his loved ones and the world around him.

His presence and gentle strength will be deeply missed by those who were privileged to know him. John will be remembered for his steadfast commitment to family, his quiet passions, and his unwavering kindness.
