His 70 years were woven deeply into the fabric of the city he loved—a life marked by steadfast devotion to his work, his family, and the simple joys that brought him contentment.

He is lovingly remembered by his sister Robin (Nelson) Worley, and brother Mitchell (the late Patricia) Ritz. John’s legacy lives on through his nephews and nieces: Eric (Katherine) Ritz, Steven (Kim) Ritz, Amanda (Rob) Ryan, Chris (Nataly) Worley, Krystal (David) Galvan, Megan Ritz (Mark Smith), and Shelby Ritz—all of whom carry forward the family traits of kindness, resilience, and commitment that John embodied.

John is reunited in rest with his beloved wife, Colette Ritz. The memory of his parents, John and Eleanor Ritz, also precedes him in death. Their spirits, together again, are surely finding comfort in his company once more.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at visitation, which will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at The Allen Park Chapel - Martenson Family Of Funeral Homes, 10915 Allen Rd, Allen Park, MI 48101. The funeral service will take place the following day on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. Afterwards, John will be laid to rest at Woodmere Cemetery, 9400 West Fort Street, Detroit, MI 48209.
