Jose Miguel Mendez, a beloved chef and family man, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025, in Wyandotte, Michigan. Born on December 21, 1940, in Puerto Rico, Jose’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with passion for his craft and love for his family.Throughout his career, Jose was proudly dedicated to his role as a Chef with Sodexo at the Ford Motor Company World Headquarters. His culinary skills not only satisfied appetites but also brought joy and comfort to those fortunate enough to enjoy his meals. Jose could cook just about anything but was especially known for his delicious Puerto Rican cooking. Everyone loved his homemade chips and salsa. Known for his warmth and hospitality, he often treated guests like family, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who entered his kitchen.Jose was a man of many interests; he was an avid baseball fan, who found great pleasure in watching the game and cheering for his favorite teams. However, nothing brought him more joy than the time spent with his family. He cherished each moment, creating memories that would be fondly remembered by all his loved ones.He is survived by his beloved wife Margurite, who stood by his side through every chapter of their lives together. His daughter, Anita (Patrick) Flannagin, and daughter Lisa (Kelley Hornyak) Mendez, carry on his legacy of love and kindness. Jose also leaves behind a loving sister-in-law, along with numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom were touched by his generosity and spirit.Jose is preceded in death by his cherished daughter Shirley Mendez and son Jose Mendez Jr., who will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew him. He was also preceded in death by many siblings.As we remember the life of Jose Miguel Mendez, let us celebrate a man whose laughter, kindness, and culinary artistry brought countless people together. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love and passion will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
