Judy Durham

Judith Durham, age 86, passed away suddenly, leaving behind a lifetime of love, devotion, and cherished memories.

Judith was a woman of many simple joys. She loved reading and could often be found with a book close at hand. A proud Detroit sports fan, she faithfully cheered on the Detroit Lions, Pistons, Red Wings, and Tigers through every season, celebrating victories and standing by her teams through the tough years.

Above all else, Judith treasured her family. She shared an especially close bond with her sister, Fran, speaking with her daily, a connection filled with love, comfort, and lifelong friendship. Fran is mother to three daughters, two of whom survive, and one who has passed. Judith also shared a deeply close relationship with her daughter, Pamela, her daily companion and devoted caregiver, and with her son Randy Durham, who also helped care for her in later years. Her sons Robert and Walter also talked with their mother daily, a routine that frequently included lively conversations about all her favorite Detroit sports teams that she followed with pride and enthusiasm.

Judith was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Durham, who passed away 25 years ago.

She is survived by her sister Fran; her daughter Pamela Costello and husband Dennis Costello; her sons Robert Durham and daughter-in-law Ruth Durham, Walter Durham and Amy Durham, and Randy Durham; her daughter Sandy Isham; and her youngest granddaughter, Azailya Durham, who lived with her and lovingly cared for her over the past eight years. Judith also leaves behind 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Judith will be remembered for her warmth, her love of family, and her unwavering loyalty to the people and passions she cherished.

Visitation will take place Friday, January 30, at The Ridge Chapel of The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm. Private burial will take place at Ferndale Cemetery in Riverview.
