Kathlyn Andrew, a spirited force of nature, was born on December 22, 1941, in Taylor, Michigan. peacefully passed away on August 13, 2025, after bravely facing life's challenges with unwavering strength and determination.
Kathlyn was not just the founder and owner of a beloved non-profit dance studio, where she dedicated over 15 years of her life to nurturing the talents of children through the magic of dance, but she was also a loving matriarch whose greatest pride came from her family. Her deep love for children was evident not only in her professional life but also in the joyous celebrations she orchestrated for her family. After all, to Kathlyn, every occasion was a reason to celebrate.
Known for her elaborate holiday parties, she brought the community together with a warmth that only she could provide. With a very real Santa Clause arriving in style, lugging in a giant sack of presents from the bed of her pickup truck, her gatherings became a cherished tradition that saw more than a hundred guests come together in joy every year. Kathlyn's home transformed into a wonderland for birthdays, particularly for her grandchildren, where no detail was too small or extravagant. Pony rides, carousels, and bounce houses were just some of the magical elements she incorporated, ensuring laughter and lasting memories were always at the heart of each celebration.
A true spit-fire with a headstrong personality, Kathlyn approached life and its battles with a fighting spirit. Her strength was unparalleled, having faced her own struggles yet always emerging triumphant, encouraging those around her to approach life with the same resilience and fervor.
Kathlyn is survived by her adoring daughters, Pamela Marie Duford and Andrea Dale (Chad) Calhoun, and her beloved grandchildren, Michael Andrew Duford and Emilee Alexandria Duford. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Hunter Duford, Riley Duford, and Jaxon Tester, who brought her immeasurable joy. Her legacy of love, creativity, and unwavering support will live on in the hearts of her family.
She joins her late husband, Tex Dale Andrew, and their daughter, Patricia Sue Andrew, along with her parents and numerous siblings, in eternal rest. Kathlyn Andrew's spirit will forever inspire those she touched, reminding us all of the importance of family, creativity, and embracing life with passion.
