Kenneth H. Larkins, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025, in Trenton, MI, at the age of 91. Born on January 4, 1934, in Monroe, MI, Kenneth lived a life marked by dedication to his family, perseverance in his career, and a passion for his hobbies.
A proud alumnus of Belleville High School's class of 1953, Kenneth went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division's 501st Infantry's Company E at Ft. Bragg, NC, where he served as a paratrooper and motorcade driver. After his military service, he pursued a successful career as an electrician, with a long tenure at Monsanto in Trenton, MI, where he also distinguished himself as a member of the Quarter Century Club. His commitment to craftsmanship also led him to become an active member of the Woodworkers Guild, where he shared his love for creative woodworking with fellow enthusiasts.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his father, Edward Joseph Larkins, and his mother, Claudia Manor-Tussey. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Bernard, Melvin, Kathleen Wagner, and Joyce Schoen. He is survived by his loving spouse of 63 years, Theresa Larkins; a devoted son, Jeffrey (Lori) Larkins; and a cherished daughter, Kimberly (Jon) Tackett. Kenneth's legacy continues through his grandchildren: Alex Larkins, Lauren (Brooks) Ullery, Natalie (Ryker) Rivera, Sarah Larkins, Hannah Tackett, and Zachary Tackett, as well as his great-granddaughter, Vivienne Ullery, and a second great-granddaughter Ullery due in August.
Kenneth had a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature, which he expressed through beautiful gardening and spectacular woodworking. He also loved to take bus trips with his many friends and spontaneous joy rides throughout the area. He took great pride in the many remarkable cars he owned, always keeping them in pristine condition. His family and friends will forever remember him for his warmth, generosity, and ability to bring joy to those around him.
A visitation will be held on July 15, 2025, at The Ford Chapel - Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, in Rockwood, MI, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A service will begin at 10:30 AM on July 16, 2025, followed by a Mass at 11:00 AM at Saint Mary, Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church. The final resting place will be at Michigan Memorial Cemetery in Huron Township.
Kenneth H. Larkins will be treasured in the hearts of all who knew him. His contributions to his family, friends, and church, coupled with his passion for life, will leave a lasting legacy.
