Kenneth Lee Purdy, born on September 25, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026, at the age of 84. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a proud veteran who served in the United States Army.
Kenneth shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife, Dora Purdy, to whom he was married for 62 years. Together, they built a family that encompassed love, faith, and cherished memories. Kenneth is survived by three children: Shawn (Jim) Benedict, Randy (Marissa) Purdy, and Cindy Purdy, alongside his son-in-law David Panzer. His legacy continues through his grandchildren David Panzer Jr., Mitchell Panzer, Barbara (Justin) Winegarden, Briana (Justin) Fitzpatrick, Krista (Cody) Henderson, Jacob (Kayla) Youngheim, Jordyn Purdy, and Jillian Purdy. Additionally, Kenneth was a proud great-grandfather to Jensen Henderson, Mia Henderson, and Dean Martin, each of whom brought immense joy to his life.
Kenneth’s parents, Harry and Cecil Purdy, along with his children Kenneth Jr. and Teresa, predeceased him, leaving a profound mark on his heart. In his leisure time, Kenneth had a passion for fishing, which allowed him to connect with nature and enjoy moments of tranquility. He will be remembered not only for his love of the outdoors but also for his unwavering dedication to his family and his country.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on March 2, 2026, from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the Ypsilanti Old Regular Baptist Church, located at 5667 Denton Rd, Canton, MI 48188. Following the viewing, the Funeral Service will commence at 12:00 PM at the same location.
Kenneth Lee Purdy's life was a testament to love, sacrifice, and devotion. He will be dearly missed, but his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
