Larry Paul Prater died suddenly due to an aneurysm in his abdomen on November 21, 2019. He is preceded in death by his parents Jim & Treva Prater (Wallace), his son Thomas Prater, grandson Cory Paternoster, and his sister Joan Prater. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Karen Prater. His children Danielle Prater(Richard Macdonald) and Aaron Prater and daughter-in-law Gina Prater. His grandchildren Monica Paternoster (Jay Noffsinger), Justin Prater, Jeremy Prater, and Marisa Macdonald. This year brought him his first great granddaughter Ruby Paternoster. Larry was the second child of six. Brothers Dennis Prater (Sue Prater) and Tim Prater (Carol Prater). Sisters Debbie Hursey (Frank Hursey) and Rosemary Fischley. Also survived by his Uncle Lowel Williams and Aunt Nita Compton and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Larry was born August 2, 1949 in Pikeville Kentucky. He served in the United States Army. He worked as a mechanical engineer for numerous years. His mind was incredible and inventive. He was patient, caring, and always helping absolutely everyone. Larry loved life and his family with everything that he was. Summers at his cottage in Irish Hills. He loved fishing and boating. He was a lover of Science Fiction novels and was always found reading with his little Lucy dog who loved him so much. Larry was a the very best husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Our family is in so much pain losing the rock in our life. He was a great man. We loved him so much. It’s his time to rest and we will greatly miss him.
