Laurence Edward Yax

Laurence Edward Yax, 85, of Taylor, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, in his sleep on the morning of October 3rd, 2022.

Larry was born on August 7th, 1937, in Huron County, Michigan, to James Nicholas and Mary Sophia. Larry was born at home on the family farm like many of his siblings. Larry went on to serve in the Army from 1960-1966. He worked at the General Motors Willow Run Assembly plant where he retired after 32 years of service. Larry and his wife Patricia were married on December 23rd, 1961 and remained together for the rest of his life.

After retirement, Larry loved to stay active. Family living in the neighborhood would often see Larry cruising around on his bright yellow bike. If he wasn’t on his bike, he was on foot taking a daily stroll. His walks or rides almost always included a pitstop to the corner store for a lotto ticket or to the local donut shop. Larry enjoyed rounds of puttputt golf, card games with family, visiting the farm where he grew up, time with his grandchildren, and his dog, Max. Larry suffered from Dementia and Alzheimer’s for several years. Pat remained by his side and took wonderful care of him until the end.

Larry was preceded in death by Agnes, Maggie, Lucy, Gladys, George, Jean, Jerry, and Duane. He is survived by his wife, Pat; his children: Thomas (Ellen) Yax, Nancy (Dave) Self, Timothy Yax (Michelle Collins), Cindy (Kevin) Winter and Beth Yax; his

grandchildren: Ashley, Marc, Emily, Kylie, Melissa, Justin, Marie, Christian, Bradley, and Noah; his great grandchildren: Meah and Jayce; his siblings: Annie, Dick, and Sandy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A “Celebration of Life & Memorial Service” will be held on Saturday, October 22nd, 2022. The visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., with service beginning at 12 p.m. at Martenson’s Funeral Home in Allen Park, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, family and

friends are encouraged to donate to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (http://alzfdn.org).
