Born to Gene and Kay Hein on September 27, 1961 in Detroit, Laurie grew up in Troy where she met her husband Brian Forrester. Laurie and Brian had two daughters – Jennifer Hare and Kristin (David) Liss. They later divorced. Laurie enjoyed gardening, scrapbooking, watching Jeopardy!, playing softball, and golfing. It was golfing that led her to the love of her life, Debra “Deb” Nieman. The pair began dating in 2009 and wed on June 2, 2017. Laurie and Deb shared a passion for adventure that compelled them to frequently travel to places like Hawaii, St. Lucia, Aruba, Las Vegas, and Florida. In addition to golfing and traveling, the lovebirds enjoyed attending concerts and sporting events, relaxing in the pool, hiking in Utah, and spending time with friends and family. The lights of their lives, granddaughters Kylie and Dylan Hare, were born in 2013 and 2015 and spent every moment after that bringing sunshine to their Gramma (Laurie) and Nona (Deb). Laurie was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her four siblings – Robert (Rebecca) Hein, Kathy Repetto, William Hein, and Brian (Kellie) Hein – along with many nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends that she completely adored. She is deeply missed. Visitation is on Monday, April 12, 2021 from 2 – 8 pm at The Allen Park Chapel of The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 10915 Allen Rd. (Corner of Goddard). Memorial contributions to honor Laurie’s life may be made to the American Cancer Society. A grave-site service is being planned for a future date and will be added when confirmed. To those attending visitation and/or services at the funeral home for a loved one, in keeping with CDC and State of Michigan DHHS guidelines, masks and social distancing along with limitations on number of person(s) in the chapel must be followed and will be enforced.
