Laurine Duncil, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026, at the age of 91. She was born on February 28, 1934, in Kentucky, where she began her journey of life that would be characterized by love, family, and a deep connection to her community.
Laurine is survived by her loving children, Ira "Rick" Duncil Jr., Gwen (Tony) Scheffler, Sharon (Danny) Albani, Lola (Roger) Gorman, Veronica (Mike) McIsaac, Jeff (Jenny) Duncil, and Matt Duncil. Her legacy continues through her eight grandsons and one granddaughter, as well as 20 great-grandchildren who will carry forth the values and warmth that she instilled in them. Also survived by a brother Albert Gillum
She was predeceased by her devoted husband Ira, as well as her daughter Sheila Williams. Laurine was also preceded in death by her cherished parents, Jake and Lilly Gillum, who shaped the person she became. And siblings Lola Mae Cumby, Morris Gillum, and Josephine Blevins
Throughout her life, Laurine found joy in the simple pleasures. She was an avid supporter of the Detroit Tigers, spending many joyful hours watching their games. Gardening was also a passion of hers, where she cultivated not only flowers but a nurturing environment for her family. Laurine took great delight in canning, cooking, and baking, always ensuring that her children and grandchildren had delicious meals prepared with love.
Her kindness and spirit touched everyone she met, and her family will forever cherish the memories of laughter and warmth they shared with her.
Visitation will be held on February 21, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM at The Trenton Chapel - Martenson Family Of Funeral Homes, located at 3200 West Rd, Trenton, MI 48183.
Laurine Duncil will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, and her memory will remain a guiding light in the hearts of her family and friends.
