Leatrice Joy Grindahl

Leatrice Joy (Rempert) Grindahl passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on November 29, 2022. Her faith has guided her home to the Lord and given us all strength, especially after her beloved husband, George, passed away in 2021. Lee’s focus was always on the joys of family, and she made each one of us feel special. Her children and grandchildren will deeply miss her influence in their lives, and her warmth, and thoughtful love for them. Lee was a loving wife and sister, wonderful mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother, and a truly kind, humble, and gentle woman.

She was born on November 4, 1929 in Saginaw, MI, to the late Paul and Doris (Birnbaum) Rempert, and was one of four children. Lee graduated from Bethlehem Lutheran School and Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw. After graduation she was proud to work at Michigan Bell as a telephone operator, operator trainer and personnel representative. On February 5, 1955, Lee married the love of her life, George A. Grindahl, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, and together they moved to Midland and raised three loving daughters, Karen, Linda and Julie. Lee later flourished while working in retail sales and bridal consulting at The Clothes Tree, and then at Your Personal Image in Midland. She truly enjoyed her adventures with her daughter Karen, experiencing much of the world as her travel companion. Even in the last year of her life she ventured to Florida and Northern Michigan with her daughters and it was a joy to share the simple pleasures of her daily life with her.

Lee is survived by her loving daughters and their spouses, Karen (Robert) Buhl, Jr. of Marco Island, FL, & Grosse Ile, MI; Linda (Scott) Byron of Alma, MI; and Julie (Chris) Allingham of San Jose, CA. Also surviving are three adoring granddaughters and their spouses, Jodi (Erik) Robinette; Kristyn (Douglas) Buhl-Lepisto; and Kourtney (Tim) Buhl-Washer; two caring grandsons, Nic (Dani) Byron; and Kyle Byron and Constance, and six precious great-grandchildren, Jenna and Grant Robinette, Miles and Weston Washer, Mackenzie Joy and Landon Lepisto, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, George, she was predeceased by her sisters and their husbands, Maybelle (Frank) Block and Delores (Foster) Findlay, and by her brother, Walter Rempert.

For the last year Lee lived at Rosetta’s Bella Casa in Riverview, MI, and we are so grateful for the exceptionally loving care she received there. Lee’s cremains will be interred at Roselawn Cemetery in Saginaw at a later date in a private family ceremony. If you are considering a memorial the family suggests Trinity Lutheran Church of Midland (www.tlcmidland.org). Condolences and memories are welcomed at www.Martenson.com.

Lee’s beautiful, genuine smile is forever in our hearts.
