Lewis "Big Lou" Caruana, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on May 17, 1949, Lewis’s life was marked by unwavering love for his family and an indelible spirit that resonated deeply with all who knew him.

Known affectionately as "Big Lou," he leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and an enduring sense of loyalty. His journey was one rooted in devotion to those he cherished most, especially his wife of 47 years, Mary Jo Caruana, whose partnership filled his days with joy and companionship. Together, they shared countless memories built on love and mutual respect.

Lewis was a proud father to his sons, Brandon Caruana and Alex (Haley) Caruana. His role as a father was a cornerstone of his life, and he took immense pride in watching his sons grow into the fine men they became.

Family was the heartbeat of Lewis’s life. He is also survived by his siblings Joseph Caruana, Rose Burgos, and Jeanie Reiger, whose lifelong bonds provided mutual support and cherished moments. Their shared memories stand as a testament to the enduring strength of family ties. Alongside his beloved human family, Lewis was accompanied by Aspen, his loyal dog, who brought comfort and faithful companionship.

Sadly, Lewis’s story also carries the sorrow of loss with him. He was preceded in death by his siblings Lawrence, Carmen, and Frank, as well as his beloved parents, Charles and Mary Caruana. The memories of these dear family members remain woven into the fabric of his life and are deeply honored by those he leaves behind.

A visitation to celebrate Lewis’s life will be held at The Trenton Chapel - Martenson Family Of Funeral Homes, located at 3200 West Rd, Trenton, Michigan, 48183, on June 12, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This will be followed by a funeral service from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The family welcomes all who wish to come and share their stories, condolences, and reflections on a life so well-lived.
