Lorraine (Lorrie) Jean Reno passed away on November 2, 2020. She had just turned 78, as it was also her birthday. She was born on November 2, 1942 to Raymond and Genevieve Wonsacz in Detroit, MI. She married Stephen (Steve) B. Reno on November 9, 1963 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Trenton, MI. Lorrie was a dedicated mother, first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced her moments with them. She especially loved the role of Gramma (this is how she preferred to spell it). She enjoyed playing games or doodling with her grandkids, and often would take them for ice cream at a local Dairy Queen. She would take them to a local park to play. She loved to take trips, enjoying the various scenery from places she and Steve would travel. On several occasions, she also enjoyed “girls’ trips” with Jill and her granddaughters. Lorrie enjoyed sewing and doing crafts such as scrapbooking. She was a very patriotic American, actively involved in the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She stood proudly at parades and ceremonies that celebrated this great nation and its veterans. She was a dedicated wife and mother, and while her first priority was raising her family, she did work outside the home at times, in a bank, a doctor’s office, and even at JoAnn Fabrics, using her talents as a seamstress to help others accomplish their project goals. Beloved wife of Steve, cherished mother of Eric (Luisa Giovannone), Gregg (Donna Boyce), and Jill (Michael Angell) and adored grandmother of Jennifer, Dakota, Jordan, Calyssa, Sarah, and Elizabeth, as well as a step-grandson Gregory and step-great grandson Gabriel. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas Wonsacz. She was loved dearly by her family, which also included several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins. The visitation to celebrate Lorrie’s life will take place at Martenson’s Funeral Home in Trenton on Sunday, November 8, from 2:00-8:00 p.m. There will be a Scripture service at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Her funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 9 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Woods Catholic Church in Woodhaven. She will first lie in-state from 10:30-11:00 a.m. at the church. After Mass, there will be a procession to Our Lady of Hope cemetery on Allen Road in Brownstown, where she will be laid to rest. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made in Lorrie’s memory to the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post Unit 426 in Trenton, MI., or visit www.members.legion.org Please make checks payable to ALA Unit 426 and mail checks to: American Legion Post 426 2423 West Jefferson Ave., Trenton, MI 48183 There will not be a Wake at this time due to Covid-19 restrictions. To those attending visitation and/or services for a loved one, in keeping with CDC and State of Michigan DHHS guidelines, masks and social distancing along with limitations on number of person(s) in the chapel(s) must be followed and will be enforced. Thank you for understanding.
