Luciano Crapanzano, a devoted family man and tireless worker, passed away on March 31, 2026. Born on January 14, 1946, in Favara, Sicily, Luciano’s journey was defined by sacrifice, love, and an unyielding commitment to those he held dear.

In 1977, he made the courageous decision to leave his birthplace and come to the United States, driven by a profound desire to provide a better life for his family. His move exemplified the strength of his character and his deep sense of responsibility. A proud member of the Santa Rosalia Sicilian Club, Luciano’s roots were as important to him as the new life he built far from home.

Luciano’s career as a cement finisher and laborer spanned over three decades, a testament to his steadfast work ethic and dedication. Every day, he put in hard work not for personal glory but to ensure his family’s security and happiness. His hands bore the marks of his labor, but they were also the hands that held those he loved, raised his children, and embraced the community around him.

Family was the cornerstone of Luciano’s life. He lived by the heartfelt motto, “Family needs to stick together and be there for each other.” He shared 56 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Maria. Together, they raised their children: Carmelo (Loretta), Maria (Guy), Dina (Tony), and Josie (Procopio). Luciano’s pride and joy extended to his grandchildren, who he called his "Greatest Treasures"—Marina, Rosalia, Luciano, Anthony, Pina, Josie, Joe, Lilliana, Luca, Salvatore, and Giuliana—each carrying forward the legacy of love and strength he so cherished. His brothers and sisters—Gaetano, Rosa, Mela, Diego, and Angelo—along with many nieces and nephews, remember him fondly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carmelo and Maria Crapanzano, and siblings Pasquale, Pina, and Antonio.

Luciano’s vibrant personality brightened every room he entered. A man who loved being around people, he had a gift for making others laugh, often entertaining friends and family with jokes that brought joy and warmth. Routine gatherings were better because of him—whether it was sharing a cup of coffee with friends each day, spending playful weekends at the casinos, or dancing and singing along to his favorite Italian music. Luciano lived life with a spirit full of laughter and connection.

The community will come together to honor Luciano’s memory with a visitation on Monday, April 6, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at The Allen Park Chapel - Martenson Family of Funeral Homes in Allen Park, Michigan. A rosary will begin at 6:00 pm. This will be followed by a gathering at St Joseph Church of St. Vincent Pallotti Parish, 334 Elm Street, Wyandotte, Michigan, 48192,  beginning with a service at 9:30 AM and a Mass at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.

Luciano Crapanzano leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and unwavering dedication to family and friends. His story reminds us that the greatest journeys are those taken with the heart set firmly on giving to others. Though he has departed, his spirit remains alive in the laughter he inspired, the values he instilled, and the bonds of family that he so deeply treasured. He will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.
