Lucille Virginia Sieloff, 95, of Taylor, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. Lucille was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 6, 1931, to Herbert and Jennie (Ponticello) Sarandrea, both of whom came to America from Italy.
She graduated from Southwestern High School in Detroit and began working for the National Bank of Detroit. She met Kenneth (Kenny) Sieloff in 1950, and they married on November 7th, 1953, after Kenny served in the Korean War. They settled in Taylor and began a family.
She successfully guided her children through school, sports and helping her youngest son, Patrick, start Horizon Lawn Maintenance while still in high school. She joined the ladies on Ziegler Street for monthly games of pinochle, rotating houses every month. She taught her children how to play a variety of card and board games. She loved spending time around the table with others! She also loved to go bowling and played in a number of adult mixed leagues, making many friends. She also made sure her children enjoyed that same passion. Every Saturday, her children spent their time at Skore Lanes in Taylor. As her children were entering and finishing high school, Lucille began a "new" career as a bowling coach and instructor at Skore Lanes. She worked there for many years before moving over to Taylor Lanes as the Youth Bowling Director of their programs. She finished her career at the age of 76 at Indian Lanes in Wyandotte. Her dedication for the youth bowling programs became a passion. Under her leadership, the youth program grew exponentially, and she worked diligently on obtaining bowling scholarships for her bowlers. She often attended tournaments in and around the Detroit area and traveled as far as Florida and Las Vegas to watch her bowlers! She took a personal interest in each of her youth bowlers; many of them would visit her when they were grown and married, bringing their spouses and children to meet their Coach Lucille.
In 1982, her coaching and guidance of youth bowlers was recognized by the Michigan Youth Bowling Association while working at Skore Lanes. In 1993, as a youth director for Taylor Lanes, she was recognized for her "most distinguished and dedicated service to the youth bowlers of Taylor Lanes." In 2006, Lucille was presented with The Oldtimers Bowling Association of Greater Detroit, the Howard M McCullough Memorial Award for distinguished service and performance to junior bowling from the Greater Detroit Junior Bowling Association.
She loved to cook. Her meatballs, cakes and pies were the best. She loved her garden. She grew vegetables and flowers. She took pride in her roses which came from her mother's house in Detroit. She maintained those roses for over 50 years! She loved Sunday dinner and often started preparing it early Sunday morning, giving plenty of time for the homemade sauce to simmer to perfection.
She was a devout Catholic and prayed the rosary. Some called her Saint Lucille! Some called her Lucy! Some called her Coach Lucille! She was always someone who wanted to be called and be a part of helping. She listened. When Kenny got sick in 1982, she took medical terminology classes at Henry Ford Community College. She took care of Kenny when he became sick in 1982 until he passed in 1998.
Her commitment to her family was always her first priority. She loved her nieces and nephews and always enjoyed visits or gatherings with the extended family. The love Lucille brought to those gatherings reflected the devotion she showed throughout her life. As Grandma Lucille—or Nana—she made every grandchild, great-grandchild, niece and nephew feel special, and everyone loved coming to see her and spending time together.
Lucille is survived by her children: Dave (Laura) Sieloff, Tim (Jane) Sieloff, Jennifer (Jeff) Besh, and Patrick (Cindy) Sieloff. Her grandchildren Elizabeth Sieloff, Anthony (Caitlin) Sieloff, Stephanie (Shane) Allen, Alexander (Yvonna) Besh, Patrick (Lauren) Sieloff, Joseph Sieloff and Ben (Catelyn) Besh. Great-grandchildren Harrison, Grant and Scott Besh, Kennedy and Callahan Sieloff, Devin Besh, and Layla Sieloff.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenny, son, Gregory Sieloff, and great-grandchildren, Juliet and Cole.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lucille's name to St. Croix Hospice at hospicesupportfoundation.org or by mail to Hospice Support Foundation 1175 Centre Pointe Circle, Mendota Heights, MN 55120. Donations may be made to a charity of your choosing.
