Margaret Ellen Cole, a beloved member of the Monroe community, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on June 21, 1950, in Monroe, she was the daughter of James and Kathleen (McLaughlin) Kansier. Margaret spent her life devoted to both her career and her family, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy that will endure in the hearts of many.
Margaret dedicated a significant part of her professional life to serving others as a Billing Supervisor for Mercy Hospital, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and Urgent Care. Her commitment to her work was a testament to her caring nature and her desire to make a positive impact on the lives of those around her.
An esteemed graduate of St. Mary Academy in 1968, Margaret carried the values of education and community engagement throughout her life. A proud member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, she found comfort and purpose in her faith, alongside her memberships with the Monroe Moose and Monroe VFW.
In her personal life, Margaret was an avid fan of boating, an interest that brought her joy and relaxation. She found peace on the water, embracing the beauty of nature and the serenity it provided.
Margaret is survived by her loving children, Steven (Cheryl) Knezevich and Kellie (David) LaBarr, who carry forward her spirit. She is also survived by her siblings: Jane Manor, Kathy (Ron) Sims, Mary Wilkie, James (Debby) Kansier and Amy (Jim) Blanchett. Their bond was a cornerstone of her life, and together they cultivated a family that celebrated life’s moments with laughter and love. Sadly she was preceded in death by her parents.
Margaret Ellen Cole touched the lives of many, and her legacy will live on through the countless memories shared by those who knew her. She will be dearly missed but always remembered for her kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family and friends.
