Margaret L. Cypher

Margaret Leota Cypher, 81, of Trenton, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 22, 2021 with her husband of 56 years, Jeffrey, by her side. She was born to the late Kenneth and Ruth Murphy on June 1, 1939 in Wellsburg, West Virginia. Following high school graduation in Richmond, Ohio, she pursued her life-long dream of becoming a nurse. In 1961, she graduated from the School of Nursing at Mount Sinai Hospital of Cleveland. Shortly thereafter, she was commissioned in the United States Navy Nurse Corps as a Lieutenant, Junior Grade. For the rest of her lifelong nursing career, Margaret dedicated herself to newborns and children as a pediatric nurse. A proud Navy nurse, Margaret met her future husband, Jeffrey, a hospital Corpsman, at Naval Hospital Balboa, in San Diego, California. After their wedding in 1964, they returned to the Downriver area to raise their family. Most important was her unconditional love and devotion to her husband and three children. Throughout her life she filled her time doing the things she loved, many of which she did with her loving husband, such as collecting wildlife art and antiquing for Depression Era glassware. The pursuit of family connections and lore via genealogy was cherished. She was an avid reader and loved watching the birds in her yard. Margaret had an incredible life surrounding herself with her family and giving the love only a mother could offer. In addition to her husband, she is survived by their loving children: Rebecca, of Gig Harbor, Washington, son Jeffrey Jr., of Toledo, Ohio, and son Paul, and his wife Natalie, of New Boston, Michigan. She is also survived by her loving brother Carl, and his wife, Gerrie, of Murrieta, California. The family requests that, in keeping with her desires to help others, flowers not be given. Instead, donations should be made in her honor to the USO.
