Click on tribute wall above to view Marjorie's memorial video and service recording. Marjorie Jean Garl Brown, 93, of Taylor, Michigan went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 4, 2022. Marge was born on November 6, 1928, in Elkhart, Indiana where she eventually met and married her high school sweetheart, Richard “Dick” Brown. Over the years, she shared many stories about life in Elkhart. Our favorite story was how she was a “yell leader” (cheerleader) who kept sticking her nose in the gym where Dick was playing basketball … his version of the story. And so, their love story of 73 years began. She is survived by sons Ronald and Gregory (Sue), and her daughter-in-law, Roxann. Her grandchildren: Tracee, Andy (Lori), Jason (Chrissy), Katey, Megan (Kaleb), Allison (BJ), Jeff (Heather), David (Megan), and Emmy (Ward). Great grandchildren: Alex (Drew), Brooklyn, Sydney (Jake), Emma (Nathan), Becca, Abbey, Reese, Macaulley, Rory, Griffin, Aiden, Callie, Allexis, and Charlie. And a great-great granddaughter coming soon. Marge was preceded in death by her parents and her sister as well as her husband (Richard Brown), her son (Gary Brown), and her grandson (Tim Veenstra). She and her husband raised 3 adventurous boys. Her countless trips to the ER with them through the years evidences their daring and accident-prone natures. Eventually, their jobs at Conrail led them to Detroit where they began attending Inter-City Baptist Church in Allen Park and later accepted Jesus as their Savior. After retiring from careers with the railroad, the two enjoyed 35 years of retirement living in Northville and Taylor. They enjoyed countless sporting events and visits from their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as well as trips to the family’s lake house in Pleasant Lake. Psalm 34:18 says, “The LORD is near to the broken-hearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” We can’t always understand God’s timing, but we can ALWAYS trust Him. He will hold us fast through this season. “When we all get to heaven what a day of rejoicing that will be. When we all see Jesus, we’ll sing and shout the VICTORY.”
