Marvin Frank "Whitey" Breitenbach, age 88, of Muskegon, passed away peacefully on the morning of Thursday, May 28, 2026, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Born in Adrian, MI, to Frank and Agnes (McKimmy) Breitenbach, Marvin spent most of his life in the Monroe County area. He worked hard to support his family at McLouth Steel in Trenton and later as a hi-lo driver at Guardian Glass in Carleton until his retirement. He was married to the former Sandra Fraser and she preceded him in death in 1985.
A man of many talents and interests, Whitey enjoyed the quiet solitude of hunting and fishing in Michigan's great outdoors. He was an avid bowler for many years and a gifted painter, creating beautiful landscape paintings that are treasured by his family. For a decade, he pursued a dream of owning his own business, a convenience store in Tawas, before moving to Muskegon to be closer to his family. Whitey dedicated many hours to coaching Little League baseball , including his sons' teams, and is a former member of the Moose and Eagles clubs.
Whitey will be remembered for his sense of humor, kindness, and love for family. He is survived by his children, Dewey Breitenbach, Jane Breitenbach, Tom Breitenbach, and Ed (Karen) Breitenbach; his brother, Henry (Barbara) Breitenbach; his grandchildren, Thomas (Torrye) Breitenbach, Tyler Breitenbach, John (Emily) Breitenbach, and Mark Breitenbach. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra; his parents; and his brother, Earl Breitenbach.
