Mary Helen Agosti (Endicott Hunter) passed away peacefully in Trenton, Michigan on April 26, 2026, after suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease. Mary was born in Detroit to Helen and Elwood Morris on March 12, 1937. One of her fondest childhood memories was attending Detroit Tiger baseball games with her brother and “Georgie” Kell, the son of Tiger great George Kell. She graduated from Redford High School in 1955 and went on to attend the University of Michigan, graduating with a teaching degree in 1958. While at college she met her first husband, David G. Endicott. They were married in Detroit on December 20, 1958. Mary worked as a school teacher while Dave finished his training as a US Air Force single engine jet pilot. His Air Force career took them to England where their first child was born and then to France and Germany. After his military service abroad, they settled on Grosse Ile, Michigan to raise their family. She became an active member of the PEO Sisterhood and the Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school, served as an Elder and lovingly cared for the Memorial Garden. Her family remembers Mary’s love of music; all things English, Scottish, and Welsh; and genealogy. An accomplished seamstress, she sewed many dresses, including her wedding dress. She was a talented pianist, often accompanying her children in music performances.
Mary was widowed on May 30, 1984. She returned to the University of Michigan, graduating with a MSA in Library Science in 1989 and worked as an elementary school librarian in Wyandotte, Michigan. On April 30, 1988 she married Milton V. Hunter. She and Milt were very active in the Junior Group of Goodwill. They also enjoyed traveling and spending time with their children and grandchildren. In addition to the Juniors, Mary was a founding member of the Grosse Ile Library Board.
Milton passed away on April 4, 2008. Mary married her former neighbor and friend, Frank E. Agosti on January 18, 2014. Mary is survived by her husband Frank, her children Douglas Endicott (Andrea Walworth), Mark Endicott (Sarah Glinka) and Martha Endicott (Jordan Beltz); her seven grandchildren and one great grandson; Milton’s daughters Bonnie and Betsy; Frank’s children Sue, Greg, Mike and Julie; and 7 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild by marriage.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first two husbands, and her brother, David Austin Morris.
You are invited to a Memorial Service for Mary that will be held at the Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church at 2 PM on June 26. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church, the Alzheimer's Association or a charity related to promoting literacy.
