Click on the tribute wall above to view Mary's video tribute. Mary N. Lehmann (Cox); died on March 12, 2021 at her home in Trenton at the age of 69. Beloved wife of Jeffrey. Loving mom of Amy (Ian) Douglass, Donald (Angie) Cox, MaryBeth (Steve) Martin and Jennifer O’Driscoll. Proud Gamma of Austin, Sierra, Chase, Emily, Michael, Jacob, Katelyn, Matthew and Jaxon; she was also Gamma to all of her fur babies. Also survived by many loving family and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents William and Paula (nee: Zervis) Tishner and one brother William Tishner. Mary was born on October 3rd, 1951 in Detroit Michigan and moved to Trenton when she was 5 years old. Mary graduated from Trenton High School in 1969 and later received her Licensed Practical Nursing Degree from the University of Michigan. Coming from a strong patriotic family, Mary was born with a sense of duty to her country and followed in the footsteps of her father, stepfather, uncle, and brother, joining the US Navy and served as a medical corpsman. Mary served in both Navy Reserves and active duty where she was called upon to serve on the hospital ship USS Comfort in Operation Desert Storm, Operation Noble Eagle, and Operations Enduring Freedom / Iraqi Freedom, earning medals and commendations for her service to her country. After her military career, Mary continued her call to service, as a volunteer in her home community. She was a regular participant in school activities throughout the City for her children and grandchildren, and most recently, volunteering at hockey games, especially for her grandson, Jacob. She was known to many for her very identifiable purple car, outgoing and outspoken manner, quirky personality, and her willingness to carry on a conversation with anyone, anywhere, at any time. If you have ever spoken with her, chances are you’ve listened to Mary explain her love for dogs, the Navy, her love for dogs, the Blue Angels, her love for dogs, the Boston Bruins, her love for dogs, U of M, but mostly, her children and grandchildren…..and her love for dogs. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michigan Humane Society. To those attending visitation and/or services for a loved one, in keeping with CDC and State of Michigan DHHS guidelines, masks and social distancing along with limitations on number of person(s) in the chapel must be followed and will be enforced. Thank you for understanding.
