Michael Mullin, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on December 12, 2025, at the age of 83. Born in the vibrant city of Detroit on October 24, 1942, Michael was a beacon of passion and dedication throughout his life, illuminating the paths of many with his unwavering commitment to service, education, and sport.

After completing his education at Wayne State University, where he obtained a PhD in 1971, Michael summoned the spirit of inquiry that would define his career. His intellect and relentless pursuit of knowledge led him to serve his country honorably in the Navy, where he made significant contributions as a USNR chemist in environmental protections, advocating for the preservation of our natural world.

Following his military service, Michael turned his attention to the sports arena as a respected referee for women’s volleyball and soccer in the states of Michigan and Ohio. His keen eye for fair play and integrity earned him the admiration and respect of athletes and fellow officials alike, leaving a lasting impact on the sporting community that he so loved.

Michael's enduring legacy is beautifully reflected in the family he cultivated over the years. He shared a profound love and partnership with his devoted spouse, Nancy Mullin, with whom he joyfully journeyed for 59 wonderful years. Together, they embraced the joys and challenges of life, creating a nurturing home filled with warmth and laughter.

He leaves behind his beloved children, Matthew Mullin, Kathleen Mullin, and Andrew (Lisa) Mullin, all of whom carry forth the values and lessons instilled by their father. His grandchildren; Nicholas, Alison, and Emily will forever cherish the memories of their grandfather, whose spirit and kindness will linger in their hearts.

Michael is also survived by his brothers, Thomas (Sandra) Mullin and Stanley (Carol) Mullin, and his sister, Rosemary Mullin. They, too, will remember him not just as a brother but as an inspiration—a man who faced life’s challenges with resilience and grace.

He will be profoundly missed by all who knew him, and although Michael Mullin is no longer with us, his impact will resonate in the lives he touched. Preceded in death by his beloved parents, Stanley and Tommie Mullin, Michael's story is one of love, dedication, and an unwavering spirit that will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
