Mike Gardner, a devoted family man and cherished member of the community, was born on February 24, 1952, in Detroit, Michigan. He passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 in the comfort of his home in Trenton, surrounded by his loving family. Mike’s final days were marked by a brief but challenging battle with Interstitial Lung Disease, a fight he faced with the same steadfast strength he exhibited throughout his life.

For nearly 54 years, Mike was the beloved husband of Linda Gardner. Their partnership was a splendid tapestry woven with love, respect, and countless shared adventures. Mike’s legacy lives on in the hearts of his children, Kalynne Larkin (married to Don) and Jeremy Gardner (married to Mandy). He found immeasurable joy in being a father, and his pride only deepened as he embraced the role of Papa to Samantha, Rebecca, Paul, and Hope. Each of his grandchildren carried a piece of his spirit, inspired by his deep love for nature.

Mike's career as a machine repairman in the steel industry was a testament to his dedication and hard work. However, beyond the daily grind, he was a man of the great outdoors. He cherished the moments spent in nature, a passion he fervently instilled in his family. Many joyful memories were made on trips to the U.S. National Parks, where laughter and exploration brought his family closer together. His love for the environment was so deeply ingrained that it inspired some of his grandchildren to pursue degrees in Environmental Science—an enduring reflection of their Papa’s influence.

Raised in a family that valued connection and camaraderie, Mike was preceded in death by his son, Michael Gardner, as well as his parents, Eugene and Loretta Gardner. Surviving him are his brothers, Dave Gardner (married to Pat) and Mark Gardner (married to Sue), who will always remember him for his unwavering commitment to family and the joys they shared.

Mike Gardner will be profoundly missed, but his legacy of love and adventure will forever resonate within those he leaves behind. His devotion to family, deep appreciation for nature, and zest for life touched all who knew him, ensuring that his spirit will continue to shine brightly in their hearts.
