Mrs. Louise Shekell

Born in Beckley, West Virginia, Louise was the daughter of Sam & Zaney (Riddle) Cassity. She married the love of her life, Clifford Shekell, on August 31, 1948. Sadly he preceded her in death July 18, 2003. Louise worked as a Nursing Assistant with William Beaumont Hospital for over 20 years, retiring in 1991. A devout Christian, Louise was a faithful member of Lakeside Missionary Baptist Church. She led a very active life having played baseball for Packard Motor Company during World War II, was a Scout Leader for both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, she ran marathons well into her 60's, she loved bowling and was an avid sport fan. Louise leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Patricia (Walter) Cox of Newport as well as three granddaughters Danielle Cox, Gabrielle Cox and Arielle Cox. In addition to her husband and parents, Louise was preceded in death by a son David Shekell and 16 brothers & sisters. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross.
