Nancy Lee Gyulveszi, a beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 23, 2026, at her daughter’s home in Carleton, Michigan, surrounded by her cherished loved ones. Born on July 17, 1941, Nancy was the proud owner and proprietor of two 7-Eleven stores for over 35 years, exemplifying hard work and dedication in every aspect of her life. Nancy Lee Gyulveszi, was a woman of strong character and unwavering love. Her family often described her as a hard-working matriarch who offered tough love wrapped in care. She cherished her loved ones most of all, taking immense pride in her children—Todd (Jane) Gyulveszi, Scott (Dena) Gyulveszi, and Suzanne (Duane) Ratliff—as well as her grandchildren, Adam (Samantha), Shannon (Ryan), Cory, Tyler, Daniel, and Delaney (Caleb). The joys of motherhood and grandmotherhood filled her heart, and she absolutely adored her great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Lilly, and Addy.

Beyond her family, Nancy was an active member of her community. She managed the Fundraising Bingo for the Southgate Hockey Association. She served as the first President of the Southgate Figure Skating Booster Club, helping to foster a love for the sport among young athletes. Additionally, she was a longtime member of the Elba Mar Boat Club on Grosse Ile, where she shared her passion for the water and companionship with fellow boating enthusiasts. Nancy's cabin on the Manistee River in Grayling, Michigan, held a special place in her heart. It provided her with the best views nature could offer, where she enjoyed bird-watching and observed various wildlife, including foxes, bears, and minks, from her front porch. She found peace in gardening and occasionally indulged in a spot of people watching, further enjoying the tapestry of life around her.

Nancy leaves behind a loving family, who will forever treasure the memories they shared, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Daniel Gyulveszi, and her brother, George "Butch" Owen. She will be deeply missed yet fondly remembered for her resilience, love, and the beautiful legacy she created throughout her life.
