Neil C. Place, Jr. of Taylor, Michigan passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital. Born on March 28, 1950, in Wimber, Pennsylvania, Neil lived a life marked by dedication to his work, generosity, and a strong sense of family.
A proud graduate of Taylor Center High School, Class of 1968 which is where he met his beloved wife of 54 years, Vicki (Underwood) Place. Neil went on to serve his Country honorably in the United States Navy. Following his military service, he enjoyed a successful career as a Supervisor at DTE, where he dedicated many years to his profession.
Neil was a meticulous handyman and skilled carpenter, always believing in the importance of taking care of matters at home independently. His generous nature was evident as he often opened his home to anyone who needed anything. He cherished the time spent with his family, who were truly the love of his life.
As a diehard Detroit Red Wings fan, Neil embraced his passion for hockey with enthusiasm, sharing this interest with loved ones and forming bonds through shared experiences.
Neil leaves behind his loving children: Neil C. Place, III; Brandy (Josh) Shiveley; and Brian Place. He was a proud grandpa to Collin (Raelyn), Delaney, Katherine, and Kennedy. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Ron (Dawn) Underwood and Dale Underwood, in addition to many other loving family members and friends. Neil's loyal dog, Blue, will undoubtedly miss his cherished companion.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vicki who stood by his side through the joys and challenges of life, as well as his parents, Neil and Mary (Ickes) Place.
Neil will be remembered for his kindness, his commitment to family, and the profound impact he had on all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed.
A Memorial Service is being planed and information will be added when confirmed.
