Patrick Warren Roddy of Taylor, Michigan passed away on Saturday, October 24th, 2020 at the age of 85 years old after a long battle with his health. A loving companion, father, “Popop,” and “Great Popop.” Patrick is survived by his companion, Sharon Charney-Lane; Daughters: Lorraine Reding (late Timothy) and Dorraine (Richard) Abbott, Grandchild, Jennifer Reding and his great granddaughter, Presley Olsson, as well as countless nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that he held so very close to his heart. Patrick was a very proud veteran having served in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1956, on multiple vessels, The Coral Sea and the USS Markab, just to name a few. Upon returning home from the Navy, Patrick worked in many capacities for Burroughs, 7-Up Bottling Company, and Stroh's Ice Cream. Patrick was an acting trustee of the Fraternal Order of Eagles club, Aerie 3861 in Dearborn Heights, Michigan, where he spent much of his spare time doing projects, helping plan events and socializing with friends. Patrick was a strong patriarch of family, and a friend to all that knew him. He, regardless of health condition or ailment, could put a smile on the face of anyone in the room with his goofy faces, silly antics and lighthearted personality. He was always there to lend a hand or help when he was able, and took such pride in all the work he did and jobs that he accomplished. He loved the outdoors and spent much of his time visiting with friends and family on canoe trips, hunting or fishing. Patrick touched the lives of so many people and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Visitation for Patrick will be held at Martenson Funeral Home, 10915 Allen Road, Allen Park, MI 48101 1-2 p.m. for private visitation for immediate family mourning 2-9 p.m. for the public. There will be a presentation/service by the Downriver Honor Guard at 7pm.
