In Loving Memory of Petra Gonzalez

Gonzalez, Petra born Petra Andrade Aviña, entered this world on March 25, 1951, in Portezuelo, Jalisco, Mexico. She was one of eleven siblings and carried with her the strength, resilience, and deep love of family that shaped her life.

In 1971, she married the love of her life, Anastacio González A., beginning a beautiful marriage built on devotion and partnership. Together they welcomed two sons, Anastacio and Jorge, before bravely immigrating to Detroit in 1978 in search of greater opportunity. There, their family grew with the births of Jessica, Jimmy, and Melissa.

Petra was the heart of her family, a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, and a proud, loving and present grandmother. She worked for many years at Mexican Industries, Inc., where she formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. Her faith guided her through every season of life, most importantly through the death of her youngest son. She worshipped faithfully at Ste. Anne, St. Gabriel, and most recently, Holy Redeemer, always placing her trust in God.

Her greatest joy was her family. Petra was a proud grandmother to thirteen grandchildren: Micheal, Vicente (David), Veronica (Corey), Iliana (Vincen), Alonso, Liset, Adrian, Azuzena, Jocelyn, Teresa, Rafael, Emily, and Vianey. She was also blessed with two great-grandsons, Colson and Braxton, who brought her immense happiness.

She expressed her love in countless ways, through the meals she lovingly prepared, the items she crocheted, the alterations she made, things she sewed, and the cheers from the sidelines as she supported her grandchildren at their games and events. After retiring, she cherished spending winters in her beloved hometown in Mexico, surrounded by family and the beauty of the place that shaped her.

Petra is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Tacho; her children Anastacio (Marie), Jorge, Jessica (Rafael), and Melissa (Tomas); her thirteen grandchildren; and her two great-grandchildren. She was welcomed into eternal rest by her beloved son Jimmy; her parents, Urbano and Petra; her siblings Clemente, Jose Luis, and Juan Manuel; and her daughter-in-law Margarita.

Petra’s life was a testament to love, faith, sacrifice, and family. Her warmth, strength, and unwavering devotion will live on in all who were blessed to know her.

Memorial contributions to honor her life may be made as the donor chooses.
