Randy L. Odette

Randy L. Odette passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was 73.

Born to Ed and Dorothy Odette in Monroe, Michigan, on July 14, 1953, Randy was one of five children. He graduated from Flat Rock High School and went on to earn an accounting degree from the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Shortly after college, he started his own CPA firm, where he built a successful career doing three things he was exceptionally gifted at: working with numbers, talking with people, and giving thoughtful advice. In addition to his profession, he also proudly served the City of Woodhaven in various roles, including being a City Council member for multiple terms.

Randy’s favorite roles, however, were those of devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Randy’s wife, Kate, was the love of his life, and together they enjoyed exploring the country in their RV, biking, playing pickleball, and walking with their faithful companion, Hank. Randy was also exceptionally proud of his daughter, Toni, with whom he always shared a very close relationship. And, of course, spending time with his five cherished grandchildren was one of his greatest joys in life.

In addition to his family, Randy loved spending time at his cabin in northern Michigan. On a beautiful summer day, he could always be found on his pontoon boat in the middle of Burt Lake or taking a hike through one of his favorite trails in Indian River. Randy was also a lifelong University of Michigan football fan.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Dorothy Odette. He is survived by his wife, Kate Odette; his daughter Toni DeRubeis (Dan); his stepchildren Hanna Ammons (Vic) and Peter Soderberg (Cara); and his grandchildren Gia, Mari, and Luca DeRubeis and Theo and Remi Ammons. He also leaves behind his siblings, Jim Odette (Laura), Don Odette (Cathy), Sharon Nichols (Phil), and Ed Odette (the late Linda), as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. Randy will live forever in the hearts of his family and all who knew him. He was, and always will be, deeply loved.

In lieu of flowers, Randy’s family suggests memorial donations be made to the Little Traverse Conservancy, an organization dedicated to preserving the beautiful woods that brought him so much joy throughout his life.
