Randy James Shankleton, a beloved community member, dedicated worker, and avid outdoorsman, passed away on January 25, 2026, at the age of 72. The son of Everett and Leola (Spaulding) Shankleton, He was born on October 17, 1953, in Monroe, and lived a life that reflected his deep commitment to both his family and his profession.
Randy married the love of his life, Mary Kakoczki, on May 19, 1995. He devoted over 20 years of his life to his career at Homrich, where he showcased his exemplary work ethic. In recognition of his hard work and dedication, he was honored as Employee of the Year in 2002 and frequently acknowledged as Employee of the Month. A proud member of the Laborers Union Local 1076-Pontiac, Randy embodied the spirit of teamwork and service.
Beyond his professional contributions, Randy was an avid outdoorsman who cherished his time gardening, fishing, and hunting, but his most treasured times were those spent with his family. His love for nature was reflected not only in his hobbies but also in his commitment to conservation as a member of Pheasants Forever and Ducks Unlimited.
Randy leaves behind, Mary, his wife of the past 30 years; his children: Robert "Bobby" (Melissa) Shankleton, Toni Sisung, Renatta Cunningham, and Jeanette Schultz. Randy was also a proud grandfather to Joseph, Kayla, Brian, Reagan, Tanner, and Wyatt, as well as a doting great-grandfather to Arianna, Finnley, and Ava. His siblings, Larry (Brenda) Shankleton, Denny (Patti) Shankleton, and Nancy (Gary) Knox, will forever hold dear the memories of their brother.
Sadly Randy was preceded in death by a daughter, Robin Sisung, as well as his parents. Randy’ spirit will remain forever intertwined with the hearts of those who loved him.
Randy James Shankleton lived a life filled with love, laughter, and the great outdoors. He will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
Randy’s life legacy will continue through the many organ and tissue donations made possible after his passing.
Randy's family requests that those attending his celebration of life wear flannel or camo.
