Raymond Keith Wilcox, 99, died quietly at home on May 9, 2025. He was born October 5, 1925, in Gault, Ontario, Canada, the son of Louis F. and Henrietta M. (Teasdale) Wilcox. He met the love of his life (Virginia King of Detroit) on a blind date in 1943, and their romance grew in spite of WWII and having to criss cross between countries. They were married in 1945, a marriage that would last over 60 years, until her death in 2006. During this time, he worked several jobs before eventually settling in as a Tree Trimmer for the City of Allen Park, a career that lasted 25 years.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his son Bruce E. Wilcox, four brothers and three sisters. He is survived by two daughters, Virginia Ann Oliver and Sharon D. Flis and her husband Gerald, and a son Raymond K. Wilcox and his wife Michele. In addition, he leaves behind nine grandchildren: Kenneth Nagel, Hal Nagel and his wife Penny, Bryan Oliver and his wife Shannon, April Bertolino, Autumn Kovach, Kerri Underwood and her husband Mike, Natalie Rupard and her husband Anthony, Andrew Hatcher, Hannah Noe and her husband Andrew, and eleven great-grandchildren.
A memorial gathering will take place at The Trenton Chapel of The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 3200 West Road, Trenton, MI 48183 on Saturday, May 24, from 10:00 am until the memorial service begins at 11:00 am. A private inurnment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery, Leslie, Michigan.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, all donations be given to homeless shelters and local food banks.
