Reta Lee Waucaush-Pearson, a devoted homemaker and beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2025, at Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Born on February 4, 1974, in Detroit, Michigan, Reta was a shining light in the lives of those who knew her. She was the proud daughter of Jennifer Waucaush-Wilson and the late Jackie B. Durham, and she attended Carlson High School in Gibraltar, where her warm spirit began to thrive in her community.

She was married for 31 wonderful years and together for 36 years to her husband Dennis; he stood by her side since their wedding on June 3, 1994, Reta dedicated her life to nurturing her family. She was the loving mother of Jennifer (Joshua) Raetzel, Dennis Pearson, Jessica Pearson, and Kevin (Kassi) Pearson. Reta proudly embraced her role as Memaw, showering affection and care on her grandchildren: Allayna, Bradley, Montana Jo, Harper, Cade, Bryson, Hudson, Aiden, and Carter. She cherished every moment spent with them, attending their sporting events without fail—always there, even if she was not feeling well—ensuring they knew they had her unwavering support.

Reta was known for her incredible generosity and kindness, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her home was a welcoming haven, filled with delicious aromas from her kitchen, where she was renowned for her excellent cooking. She had a special talent for crafting meals from just about anything, serving soups that brought warmth and comfort to family and friends alike. Reta's selflessness and her innate desire to keep her loved ones together made her a linchpin in her family's life; her motto of wanting to "keep her children straight" reflected her deep love and commitment to her family.

As a devoted pet owner, Reta will also be lovingly remembered by her dog, Huxley, whom she affectionately called "Big Baby," and her cat, Emmee. Her bond with her pets mirrored her nurturing nature and added joy to her everyday life.

Reta leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and kindness. Those fortunate enough to know her will carry her spirit with them, forever touched by her warmth and generosity. Reta will be sorely missed, yet her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched with her life-giving spirit. Memorial contributions to honor her life may be made to Autism Speaks.
