Richmond K. Johnson, Jr.

Richmond K. Johnson, Jr., a beloved figure in the lives of many, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, in Riverview, Michigan. Born on December 22, 1940, in the quiet town of Virgie, Kentucky, he touched the hearts of those around him with his warmth and dedication throughout his life.

Richmond had a fulfilling career at Ford Motor Company, where he spent 40 years contributing to the company’s legacy. However, it was in retirement that he truly found joy, relishing in two decades of freedom to pursue his passions. Gardening was among his favorite pastimes, where he nurtured the earth and found solace among the plants. He often enjoyed immersing himself in puzzles, challenging his mind and finding great satisfaction in each piece that fell into place.

Richmond's greatest pride came from his family. He was the cherished father of Sherry Fore, and lovingly referred to as "Papa" by his grandchildren, Kaylie (Jared) and Ryan. His spirit will continue to live on in them as they carry forward the lessons he imparted and the love he shared. He was also a dear brother to Gloria and Frankie, and he leaves behind many nieces and nephews who held him dear.

He is reunited in eternal rest with his beloved wife, Shelby Jean, alongside brothers Ival and Dale, sister Evelyn, and his parents Richmond K. Johnson Sr. and Maybel. Richmond's legacy is one of love, laughter, and commitment to family and friends.

A visitation to honor his life will be held on July 1, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at The Trenton Chapel - Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, located at 3200 West Rd, Trenton, MI 48183.

Richmond K. Johnson, Jr. will be remembered not just for his accomplishments but for the kindness he extended to all. His life is a testament to the beauty of family ties and the joy found in simple pleasures.
